KALAMAZOO, MI ? The Borgess Foundation thanks the 132 golfers who hit the links at the Foundation?s 21 st annual Borgess Golf for Health on Monday, July 16, 2012.
The 2012 scramble event, which was held at the Gull Lake Country Club in Kalamazoo, raised nearly $36,000. The proceeds from this year?s outing will support and enhance the Critical Care Family Waiting Areas at Borgess Medical Center, where more than 25,000 critical care patient families keep vigil near their loved one for hours or days.
?These proceeds will provide a more comforting and less stressful atmosphere for families waiting in critical care areas,? said Mark Anthony, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Borgess Health. ? Borgess Medical Center has a total of 30 critical care beds, and many patients in critical care are flown in from regional hospitals for the tertiary services we provide. This makes it extremely important to provide a comfortable environment for the families of patients who often stay four days or longer.?
A total of 46 sponsors representing area businesses, organizations and individuals participated in this year?s outing, including Elite Sponsor AVB Construction. Time and talent committed by Borgess volunteers and Gull Lake Country Club staff, along with the sponsorship and donation support, also contributed to the success of the event.
?We are grateful to all of this year?s golf participants, along with our volunteers, Gull Lake Country Club, and the numerous businesses and individuals who sponsored the event, contributed prizes and made donations,? said Tony McDonnell, chief development officer, Borgess Foundation. ?Everyone?s involvement helps us connect and partner with patients and their families in health for their life?s journey.?
