Review Day-Anne Gracie's The Autumn Bride and Suzanne ...

I fear I?m running out of things to write about! ?What would you all like to read about in a blog post? Do you want us authors to post excerpts from our books? ?Hear about the struggles of the writing process, or just have reviews posted? Let me know!

Today, I have two lovely books for you to read. ?One is by an author, Anne Gracie, whose books I love, love, and the other is a new author for me, Suzanne Medieros.

The Autumn Bride

I love Anne Gracie novels. ?Her characters are always believable and interesting and her writing is lovely.

The Autmn Bride is the beginning of the Chance Sisters Romance series. Abby Chantry is a governess who has just found out that her younger sister has somehow ended up in a brothel in London. ?she manages to free no only her sister, but another waif instead. ?Her employers turn her out and the three girls vow to stay together and claim each other as sisters. ?They set out together to try to live on their own. ?but wind up destitute and half starved. ?One night, Abby decides to break into her neighbors home and finds an elderly lady, virtually imprisoned by illness in her bed. ?Her natural sympathetic nature takes over and she discovers the woman, Lady Bea, is mistreated by her servants and cut off from the world. ?She and her sisters reinvent themselves as the The Chance sisters.

Lord Max Davenham is returning home from traveling to India and beyond. ?He left over 10 years ago, to make his fortune after he was almost impoverished by his uncle. ?Before he left, he promise the man who helped him that he would marry his daughter upon his return. ?Max has issues of abandonment and loneliness that makes for my favorite kind of lost soul alpha male hero. ?when he visits Aunt Bea, he immediately is suspicious of the Chance sisters and although Aunt Bea hilariously tries to pass them off as her long lost?nieces, he knows they are a fraud. ?He just has to prove it.

But does he want to, when he is so entranced by Abby? But when there are threats against her life, can he put aside his honor and betrothal to another woman he hasn?t seen in a decade, to listen to what is in his heart?

The supporting cast is one of the best I have read in a long time in any novel. ?Max?s friend Freddy-(I can?t wait for him to fall in love), the household staff and of course Aunt Bea are all fabulous characters. An excellent, excellent read.

Plus, you will really want a muffin after reading this story?.

Loving the Marquess

I had never heard of this author before and read this book from NetGalley. ?This is part of what the author is calling the ?Landing a Lord? series.

The I thought this was a good story, well written with a good supporting cast of characters. Louisa Evans family is destitute and about to lose their home. ?At one time they were a family of means, but her father lost everything in a card game. ?Now he is dead and she must look out for her family. ?Except she won?t surrender hr body to save her home.

Nicholas, ?Marquess of Overlea was a second son, never destined to inherit, but both his father and brother died of a mysterious illness. ?He collapses near Louisa?s home and she takes him in and cares for him. ?He proposes a marriage of convenience, as he needs and heir and she needs a home. ?You see, it was his family who caused her family to become destitute. Because of his mysterious illness, he is fearful to have his own child, so puts forth a slightly ridiculous ?proposal, which is complicated by the fact the he is falling in love with his own wife. ?Although the plot seems some what manipulated, it held my interest to find out what was causing the marquess? illness and the love story was very nice. There was some fun, humorous parts and good secondary characters; even the evil ones were done well. ?A nice ?read. ?I am interested in seeing if her next book will be about Kerrick, and Louisa?s sister, Catherine.
